Totems

A slightly more unconventional way of displaying fanart, I suppose. I decided to call the objects "totems" based on my comment at the time of making these on how much of the media in fandom (comics, video games, genre films, etc.) seem to work as a collection of 'modern mythologies'. I also wanted to show a range in characters by varying the media they originate from. These blocks were actually used for a simple stop-motion animation that was to accompany an art video project which intended to provide some insight into the community of fandom, incorporating found footage of social gatherings and audio excerpts of opinions from fans as well. Although I am struggling a little about how to develop my video idea, I am still focused on creating my artwork as a window to fandom and its activities.
